Unhook your bra.

Big day. Mentally drained. Achy body. Heavy chest.

To be honest, I used to drop my bag, turn on the computer or TV and zone out...

Now I walk through the door. Drop my bag, kick off my shoes and if it’s hot, pull off my dress. Make a mug of soy chai in my favourite red mug and drag a blanket and all the pillows in the house I can find out to the backyard. I then proceed to lie under the bottlebrush tree and either stare up at the sky, flick through a gardening/cooking book or just close my eyes and exhale.

I can smell the herbs from my garden, I can see natural light, I can hear birds, I can feel the breeze on my skin and my mind is empty. The world stops racing and I am mindfully living in the present moment.

This is MY time. I am being true to myself. I can recharge, decompress, regain balance and CONVALESCE! This time allows me to be me again.

How do you spend your quiet time, doing nothing but being YOU? A morning run on the sand, drinking your cup of tea in the sun on your break at work, soaking in a hot bath once the kids are tucked into their beds. Invest in yourself daily and you will reap the rewards xx.

Summer lovin'.

Oh my goodness, what a Summer!! Balmy nights, fruit bowls overflowing with lychees and strawberries, trays of mangoes, an tropical island getaway, fresh juice and crunchy salads, meeting new friends and reuniting with old ones, floaty dresses, sandy toes, salty crusty hair, the smell of sunscreen, buckets full of happiness, a whole new universe full of love xx.

Parental Bears.

This a powerful yet humble reading that my father used to read to me when I was younger. I hope it finds seed in the good soil of your soul xx

On Children,
-The Prophet.

Written by Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Happy Friday everyone xx

Crafty cats.

How many times have you gotten half way through cooking something and realised that you don’t have one or more of your ingredients? That happened to me this afternoon when trying to whiz up a dip to have with felafels and salad for dinner tonight.

So I improvised like MacGyver does when he finds himself in a sticky situation. MacGyver could detonate a ticking time bomb with a paper clip using his teeth while tied to the roof of a moving train, with his lustrous blonde mullet flapping in the breeze... The ultimate crafty cat before Bear Grylls came on the scene.

Whiz together in a food processor:

1 x 400g can of organic chickpeas (drained)
2 x Tbsp lemon juice
2 x Tbsp tahini
2 x Tbsp coconut oil (instead of olive)
2 x Tbsp leftover salsa sauce (because I hate wasting food)
2 x garlic cloves

Wow, how good would this dip be if you were feeling a little under the weather! Vitamin C from the lemons, garlic is nature’s antibiotic and coconut oil contains lauric acid which has antifungal properties.

Get crafty in the kitchen wherever possible! You might just create something special...
